Default What exactly is a slow cooker??

I'm trying to figure out how I can start preparing dinner at lunchtime (or whenever bub sleeps) so that evening dinners are not so completely chaotic!! But I don't understand what a slow cooker is!!

Haha im slow cooker crazy at the moment. Slow.cooker recipes for families on fb is great for recipes and tips from fellow slow cook cookers. It is essentially the opposite of a pressure cooker. Its only goes to.a certain temp allowig what ever is cooking.to.cook at a fairly slow rate. Meat in it comes out so tender you wont ever do a roast in the oven again!

It's an appliance that is used to cook slow and low. Great for things like casseroles, butter chicken etc. I find it's winter food friendly.

I know @anewme also uses hers to make amazing cakes and treats

You can pretty much cook everything in it, its amazing and so easy to be able to chuck all in and let it do its thing.

    Slow cookers are great.
They are set and forget type of meals.
Most meals are cooked for 8 hrs on low or 4 hours on high.

Even cooking for 8 her you use less energy than a oven for 20 mins.

    Pics
1 most showers look like these. With a heavy ceramic crook.

2 this one is like mine. It's super light and large but I can brown the meat in it if I felt like it. (I never do)

3 a great recipes site on Fb.

Most of my meals I don't use recipes just make my own.

I love mine and it gets used most days during winter. Roast lamb and chicken would be my favourites. Any casserole can be cooked in it and I've recently been sent a slowcooked pavlova recipe!

It actually from that site. With a twist.

    3 cups Sr flour
1 and 1/2 (2 if not using pineapple) of warm water.
    A pinch salt
Herbs to taste (used mixed and garlic powder)

    Toppings of your choice
    I used
    bacon
    Pineapple
    Tomato paste
    Cheese

Mix flour salt and herbs add water and stir. Stir through half of your topping. Put into a baking paper lined slow cooker. Spread out and top with the rest of your toppings.
Bake on high 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours on high with a tea towel under the lid.

I have made it both in my big cooker and dd's smaller $20 kmart one. It always turns put great. I even taught dds bf to make it last time I was down there.
