    Default Hotel recommendations for Singapore?

Hi there! My DP & I are thinking of heading to Singapore for a wee break, prob 5-6 nights, just the 2 of us. I've never been before & there are sooo many hotels - everytime I start to look I end up bewildered lol! We're looking for somewhere central, on a mid-range budget. Would really appreciate any suggestions - thanks!

Can I suggest using trip advisor to get some ideas.
We stayed in an apartment while there years ago, which was great.
There would be some lovely hotels to stay in.

Orchard rd area is right in the middle of the shopping district.
We stayed around there, and could walk most places, but the metro system
Is super easy to use as well

I second staying near Orchard Rd.

I've stayed at the Traders a couple of times (a few yrs ago though) which is a little bit off Orchard Rd - about 10min walk. Nice pool - small but clean rooms - reasonable price.

I recently stayed at the York hotel - closer to Orchard Rd but I didn't like it as much but clean, nice staff. Easy to get to places.

Loved the Shangri la but it's a bit $$ - we stayed in the club rooms - fancy - and you get cocktail hour each evening and breakfast in the upstairs restaurant.

Marriott is also lovely but again $$.

    Enjoy your trip!

Thanks wobbleyhorse. I asked someone today & they suggested Traders too. I checked out the Shangri-La - it looks amazing but yeah probably too expensive & I think if we stayed there I'd miss out on the sights because I'd never leave the hotel because it'd be too awesome lol!

we stayed at the Shangri La last time - it was awesome. But it kinda is a place for families ... lots of kids, great kids club etc.

For just you two, I would stay right in town.

The Conrad is nice, but a bit expensive.

The Merchant Court is really lovely too - and they have some pretty good deals at times. That is right on Boat Quay which is a great place to stay.

Swissotel is also good - over the top of a massive shopping centre.

Trip advisor also have a free offline app called trip advisor city guides.
You download the applicable city prior to leaving and have some info offline regarding hotels, restaurants, attractions etc.
