Yeah I have always found it annoying, if you're going to bother liking it, just write a comment saying :sorry to hear that" etc.

What irks me more is vaguebooking. I had a friend say last week "I don't like to be vague on FB but (insert vague sentence here)" She got some comments, then followed it up with a comment saying she didn't want to talk about it on a public forum. Why mention it then!?! So attention seeking IMO.

I am truly sick of FB, I just wish that so many people wouldn't rely on it to communicate with me all the time.

They need an 'acknowledge' button in stead of 'like' then!

I don't see the like function as a like, more of a I've read your post, I'm letting you know I've read your post. Personally I find it disturbing when acquaintances comment, less creepy when they like

I no longer have Facebook but I remember seeing this kind of thing.
My take on it is it's more of a "I feel you" type of thing, as opposed to "I really enjoyed that post, thumbs up"...

I see it as more of an acknowledgement, kind of like the thanks function on here

I used to hate it when people always just liked statuses and never commented. Sadly, I've just gotten used to it over time. :/
