Yeah I think it is. I wish I met him a few months down the track. A little part of me worries now I've jumped the gun in backing away completely and I should have maybe tried to take things slowly as he'd wished ... But I can't imagine it's a good time for that anyway and I think I'd possibly feel worse if I was falling for him but he wasn't ready (if that makes sense??)

My DP divorced his ex wife 5 years ago, and in the 4 years before I met him he dated a few people, including a relationship that lasted 18 months and they lived together too. He also had a few flings and short term relationships. It shaped who he is today with me and I think he really needed to experience those. Plus I've dated a couple of people and I'm also glad to have had those relationships.
Both of us really know what we want now, so when we met and 'clicked' instantly, there were no doubts or hesitation. When it's the right person at the right time you just know, and there's no hesitation.

That's a bit sad as it sounded like there was a real connection, I would see what happens next, if it's meant to be it will be.
Feel sad for you because I know you have trouble putting yourself out there and you were dipping your toe in the water, huge hugs, I don't get the 'over' vibe, just the two terrified wounded people vibe xxxxxx

Yeah - he texted tonight saying he doesn't want to break from me ... Just needs a little space and time. Plus a whole heap of complimentary things about me. He really is a sweet guy. I'm happy for him to sort out his emotions. I could imagine being friends with him down the track anyway if the spark goes.

I think that sounds really positive. It sounds like you're both really into each other but just scared that it'll all come tumbling down which is a natural fear in relationships.
