    Default Which formula??

    Hi all,

I want to start supplementing baby with formula and am looking at either the Karicare plus or Heinz Nurture. Any reviews on these two formulas would be great! :-).I would love to bottlefeed breastmilk but I don't have enough stored away...

Also, I want to keep breastfeeding so am not planning using formula as the main source of nutrition. How do you start bubs on formula? At which feed? do you breastfeed first then give formula as a top up? or do you give bubs formula first then offer boob??

    Many thanks in advance

My health nurse recommended nanHa as the closest to breast milk. It was great with ds1 but I used bellamys organic with ds2. You offer both breasts first and then offer formula. The formula will fill them up so you may need to express in between feeds to keep your supply up.

What is your aim with formula- ie is it a top up or comp feed to help with weight gain or are you wanting to mixed feed? For comp feeding you offer 20-30ml after a bf or through a supply line while bf.
To mixed feed- pick a feed to replace and offer a bottle- do the same each day.
Nan Ha Gold was great for DD (as her top up formula) and never had a problem getting it.

I found Karicare brilliant once i put DS onto it when he was 9 months old. Im not sure what its like for younger babies but its a pretty well known and popular.

I did find at times it was hard to get though due to being too popular.... that was annoying...
