I've been enjoying reading some new books - Wombat Stew, The Short Giraffe, Starting School and Brown Bear.

We did ok. We got some new books which was a nice change. We still read to DS1 every night, and I definitely read more to DS2, although his interest came in waves and sometimes it was much more fun to try to eat/ rip/ smash the book than actually sit down and read it.

actually my DD was saying they have a thing at school this term ...

each child has a 'buddy' that is assigned to them. They do specific activities for their buddy, like make them a little card, or write a letter if there are things the buddy is doing (like holy communion or school camp), their buddy sits with them once a term for church etc.

This year (year 3) is the first year that DD has been the older buddy ... they have a kindy child (easier as the kindy's dont do so much with the rest of the school. Only at pre-primary do they join in fully).

anyway - this term they have been going once a week to the kindy room for the Grade 3 children to read to the Kindy buddies. Its really lovely.

That's a really lovely thing to be doing at school.
