    Default 2nd Birthday Party...?

Did you have host one for your little one?
The reason I ask is because we had the 'big' 1st birthday and it's was a fantastic memorable day but ALOT of work. Most of my friends have children the similar age and most of them are planning 'biggish' 2nd birthday parties - basically a repeat of the 1st bday.
Originally I thought we wouldn't do anymore big parties until Dd was old enough to actually remember, ask or even be excited for one...
But now I'm second guessing myself.....
Ps- I wrote up a draft invite list and it's got 40ppl on it : /

    For DS1 we didn't have a 2nd bday party. We had a 1st and a 3rd. For DS2 we didn't have a big 1st but I am planning to have a 2nd for him.

If you don't want it to be big you could still have a small party for her.

We did - I figure I've only got control of about about 7 or 8 years worth of parties to throw DS before he wants a say in things so I'm making the most of it!
It wasn't as big as the first but we had a play school theme and a jumping castle and only invited little kids the same age and family

All we did for dd was have our parents, my brother and my cousin over for morning tea/cake. That's all we plan for the next few years as well

I would go to the park.. and for that many ppl do a sausage sizzle, get some chips, make fairy bread & buy cupcakes and that's it.

This is what I would suggest with the amount of guests you will have just by having family come along. Or maybe even just a morning tea?

We did, mainly just family and our close friends which was around 30 people. We had it at home with a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme. It was lots of fun making all the food and organising decorations. He had his first 'big' party this year when he turned 3 with his friends from childcare.

We weren't planning on having a second birthday party for DD, but a few weeks before her birthday friends and family started contacting me to find out what we were planning. So I started saying we would cut the cake at 2pm if they wanted to be there to sing happy birthday, and before I knew it we had about 30 people saying they would be there! So of course I had to organise nibbles and drinks etc, it was much more work than I had wanted to do initially. So it seemed like people expected a 2nd birthday party. For her third we just said to people they could pop in whenever, and it resulted in only our closest friends and family (about 8 people) coming over which was much better.
