Hi, I have a nearly 8 week actual (nearly 2 week corrected) baby girl.
I find she doesn't look at me, and doesn't follow any objects with her eyes (if i wave my fingers in front of her).
Her eyes are constantly moving though, but I still am worried, our peadiatricians appointment is next tuesday, which I will bring up with him.
Is this "normal"?

My bubba didnt look at me for ages, she avoided eye contact with anything. But she is fine now. Make mention of it but i dont think its an issue, she's still so itty bitty and figuring things out

DS was 5 weeks premature, and was very similar. Do you have any toys that light up that catch her attention, how far away from her do you place your head? Their vision can be fuzzy for a while but definitely have specifics for the doctor so they can assess.

It sounds pretty normal to me. I found my preemie was sleepy and less aware of her surroundings for longer than my full term bub
Did they do an eye check?
Let your paed know. Just a tip, write down anything you want to ask as you forget things and it feels like forever between paed appointments.

When you say constantly moving, do you mean in a constant rhythmic sort of motion?
My DD has an eye condition which causes her eyes to do this, and if that's what it is, yes mention it to your paed. In my DD's case it's called 'nystagmus'. It's fairly normal for very small babies not to make eye contact but when you mentioned the movement, it sounds like my DD.
Please don't worry though. I wasn't even sure whether to reply as I might be misunderstanding and I don't want to unnecessarily alarm you.

the constant moving is right to left, up and down, sometimes cross eyed. i think i'm being over paranoid, but she's my first baby, and no other premmies in the family, so this is all new.
she reacts to light. should i get a baby mobile so she has more visual stimulation? atm its just sleep eat cry poo repeat....
i'm still coming to terms with her now being in a hip harness for the next 6 weeks, i dont want her to have anything else...
not to sure if they did an eye check in hospital, will have to check blue book...
