Default Shout out for an RPA IVF buddy!?

    Hi everyone,

We are more than likely going to do IVF at RPA in Sydney over the coming month or so. We have our second appt on Thursday.

This will be my first cycle and I'm very nervous so if would be great to hear from anyone who is also with them or has previously used them.
    All welcome!
Thank you and good luck to all on here x

@amiracle4me Hi, I've had a few cycles with RPA, I'll be doing another at the end of this month. Have you had the nurses interview yet? I think I had to wait a while for that before I could get started.

Hello and thanks for the reply @Bongley.
We waited 5mths for our first appt and have re-done all our tests. We are hoping that the second one will start us with IVF soon.
How long did you wait for the nurses appt once you had agreed to start with the FS?
How are you finding it all?

We have been TTC a while so my need to start is greater than my fear at this point.
Have you been TTC long? Male or female factor infertility?
Good luck with it all x

@amiracle4me Well, I went through the process a couple of years ago, first 3 cycles with Genea then I did 1 round with RPA and got my kid in 2012. I went back last year for number 2, let me see now........I remember the nurses interview was in september and I think I saw the doc in july, so maybe 2 or 3 months? I hope it isn't as long for you. Once you do the nurses interview you just need to wait for your next period to get started.

No male issues, I had a possible few things, thyroid, PCO and endometriosis. I had a laparoscopy, tubes flushed and D&C. Next cycle I fell preggers. And now its my age.

I've found RPA cheap and good (but I would say that as I got up the duff) Hope things go smoothly for you. The waiting around is a pain in the butt but once you start hopefully things will get moving.

@Bongley- Oh blimey, I hope it's not another two or three months from here! I've waited so long to get started and emotionally prepare myself. Good news that you had a successful cycle
Was it as bad as you had built it up to be?
I started all my stuff with Genea and hated them. I felt like I was shopping for a handbag and they were all so impersonal and young. I like RPA, much more homely.

@amiracle4me I don't think I was fearful of starting IVF, I think I was looking forward to it! (not by the 3rd and 4th cycle though) Is there anything in particular you are worried about?

I didn't mind Genea we just ran out of cash.

I know with the doctors appointments you can keep calling up asking for any cancellations, I've shaved a few months off my waiting time doing that. You could try that with the nurses interview I guess. the waiting list isn't too long.

@Bongley it's great that you were so brave. I've never been into hospital in 33 years so all very daunting. I already have very erratic moods and I'm worried I'll turn into a monster with all the drugs. Clomid made me very angry.

You seem to have your head screwed on and be an old hand at the process but if you ever fancy a coffee then feel free to inbox me. I'm in Newtown

Yeah fair enough! They give you some nice drugs for the egg pickup. The hormones don't seem to affect me too badly, I just get bad pizza face.

Newtown! Nice, 5 mins walk from the hospital then! That'll be handy for all the blood tests and ultrasounds. I'm in Alexandria.

Pizza face lol. I haven't heard that in ages!
I'm hoping the drugs are good as I've heard the egg pick up is horrible
Your just around the corner then also.
I work a 15 min walk from RPA which is also really handy!
Where are you currently at in your cycle?

Yeah, the egg pick up isn't too bad, I think the anticipation is probably the worst bit. Although I did prefer being knocked out completely at Genea!

I had a BFN just the other week and I'm hoping to start another cycle by the end of June. They are putting me on a short antagonist cycle which I didn't even realise they did, I thought it was all long down regulation (which takes about 2 months)

The failure is really mounting up the stress, ugh! I hope you nail it in the first 1 to 3, it gets pretty hard after that. I'm not sure how many more we will do. I find the emotional let downs much harder than any physical issues. Plus the financial stress doesn't help! Thank god RPA are cheaper than many places.

Keep me posted when you think you'll be starting! Hope I haven't put you off with my doom and gloom. When you get that BFP its the best thing in the world and worth all the stress obviously. Although you might still not believe it for a while, it didn't seem real until we saw a heartbeat
