I'm worried about my DS2's gums. He has purple bluish gums on both sides top and bottom and they are swollen to almost twice the size they usually are. It's roughly where his canines and first molars would eventually appear. I've never seen anything like before and he's my # 3.
Does this sound like teething or something else?

That is so bizarre that you've just posted this! My no3 ds2 also has this but only on one side. DH thinks it just the blood near the tooth as it pushes out. But looks odd to me. I was thinking about going to the dentist. Hopefully someone eked might have an answer/experience

I had that happen with one of my boys, can't remember that well, but it did look absolutely awful just before the tooth came through, I took him to the doc, and they said that yes, sometimes it can happen like that, not often though. When the tooth came through he was fine.
Having it looking like that over a large part of the gums sounds a bit freaky, I'dbe getting that checked out.
All the best.

My third had the same thing. Took him to the doc and then the dentist. Dentist confirmed what the doc thought, completely harmless and just the tooth trying to get through. He only had it on one gum though. It swelled up so big, looked awful! Went away after about 2 weeks and the tooth finally came through.

This happened to my dd the day she turned 3 months. She woke up with big bruises on her bottom gums and a few days later the first one broke through. Freaked me out!
