I love the name, and I loved it before Frozen. I say go for it. Plus Elsie is a cute nick name.

Thanks everyone. I read the responses to DH and he said - OK fine, i really like the name too but if anyone comments I'll just tell them that DD chose it.

No doubt we'll have a boy now and that is another argument.

Well my daughters are obsessive with the movie, but decades before Frozen there was Born Free and Elsa was a lioness lol
I used to love that doco as a kid.
But I like the name. It's very pretty and especially if you don't have older kids that have watched the movie, I don't think everyone will make the association. Especially people without kids, may not even know the name of the character.
I do like Elsie as a nickname though.

Dd1 is 6 and her name is also the name of a character in a popular movie from 10 years ago. Nobody bats an eye about it. When we named her, a few people mentioned the movie but since then it's been a non-issue. If you love the name, go for it.

Go for it if it is what you love. No one will remember in a few years time anyway.

No, not too Frozen at all. It is a gorgeous, timeless name.

Elsa is beautiful. I love the name and don't associate it with the movie at all. If you had chosen the name Pocahontas, then yes, I would probably associate it with a movie, but not Elsa.
