Try to keep him out of direct sunlught while he is healing as well.
My DS3 had a really bad case of staph over half of his face and we managed to get through it with no visible scarring however wjen he cries or gets really hot he gets red where it was still.
The dr was quite confident he wouldnt scar because he was ao little and his skin was undamaged by the sun.
