Smile older mum, surprise baby - interested to hear from others in the same baby boat !

    Hi all,

I'm new to forums of any kind ! We recently found out that we are expecting a surprise little bundle at the end of the year. I have 2 other children - 9 & 7.
I don't know what the kids will think of this new crying pooing machine, we will wait and tell them in a few weeks. we gave away ALL our baby things so will have to start from scratch - i think i'll actually enjoy this.

The first thing everyone said when we told them was - you know you have options...instead of - congratulations, thats great news !!! the support is overwhelming - NOT !

Anyone out there in the same boat - old (I'm 35), with older kids, a bit scared and not wanting to get too excited at the moment in case something goes wrong.

    thanks guys

Not in the same boat, but I just wanted to say that 35 is not at all what I would call old!!! Many women are having their first at that age, and I would say its a very common age to be child bearing. Good luck, hope it all goes well!

See, someone else has words of wisdom that escaped me - 35 is far from old!

    Welcome to BubHub!

I was 35 with an 8 year old when we conceived #2. Then had another 19 months later

I agree with PP ... You're not old!

I am 36 with no 3 and my ob laughed when I said i was too old. He said I was one of his youngest clients. So don't worry you are far from old!!! The fact that your others kids are 7 & 9 will be awesome! They can help you and are probably in a good routine themselves so that will help you a lot. I'm sure they will be so excited!! Congrats!

Congratulations!!! I was 3 months off 35 with a 8 year old when I had my lil man. You're not too old. And anyways, I felt when I was pregnant and still feel with bub a lot more relaxed and confident due to natural maturity. Physically though, I felt a massive difference. Aches and pains came along sooner, etc. As PP mentioned, the age of your older kids is tops! My daughter is a massive help and best of all she understands that she can wait or do things herself but her baby brother can't.

I was reading your post nodding along until I got to your age . I had my surprise bundle (our 4th) when I was 42!!

35 is young (well compared to me). Good luck you'll have a blast!

Thank you. I know 35 isn't that old, but I suppose seeing as I had my babies at 26 and 28 and thought we were done, I'm feeling it. There's all these 'suppose to's' and I'm in the - concentrate on your career now. But you know what - I'm going to be so much more relaxed and really enjoy it this time around, back then I was worried all the time, this time I'm going to relish every moment
    cheers !!
