It makes more sense to get them vaccinated for the flu than not. If they come in contact with those strains then they won't get it or will have less effects of the flu and therefore won't develop the detrimental complications. Children are the ones that are more likely to end up in hospital. I had my 9 month old at the time done last year and she had a bit of a temp and was fine. It was a great peace of mind for me. I will defiantly be getting her vaxed ASAP (when not bloomin sick from daycare) because she picks up everything that goes around daycare and I want to cocoon my newborn due in July. I never understand why doctors don't recommend it. The only thing I can think of is because of the flu vax scare a few years back. I don't see it any different to any other scheduled vaccination they receive. We do our best to protect them, so why not give them the flu shot?

Our 4 year old DD has had the flu shot for the last few years as she is asthmatic. I am undecided about our 17mth old. We probably won't get him done this year I don't think. DH and I have both had the flu shot this year.

My daughter is 2 and a half and she's had hers she needs it every year due to being premmie and born with severe chronic lung disease, respiratory distress & hyaline membrane disease.

Our family all need to be immunised as well (cocooning) to protect her Asher immune system isn't the best a simple cold lands her in hospital on oxygen and steroids.
