Naw thanks del. it's very very hard to have any kind of hope when you're a long term ttcer. I honestly take my hats off to the ladies that can do it for years and years and years.

When I finally told my best friend we'd been ttc and told her about all my issues she was like "why don't you just adopt?" People irl unless they've been through it they have absolutely no idea what we go through

I just worked out we've been ttc 8 years total for the 2 we have and the 3rd. That is so depressing. No wonder I'm nuts lol

And adopting? good lord. There were 210 adoptions in all of australia in 2012-13. Amongst thousands of desperate people and 156 were known to the child.

We've just hit the 3 year mark ttc our first. That's been a bit depressing. When we first started ivf my mum said "yeah well you're too old to adopt" ummm excuse me? I'm 30, my age is not the biggest barrier we face with adoption. I have thought a lot about fostering... Dh needs some convincing though. After this next ivf round I'm contemplating giving up, or at least taking a long break. I just can't take it anymore.

Ladies do you mind if I join in here?

We've been trying, or at least not preventing for around three years. I lost 18kgs so far this year... Was beginning to think we mightn't be able to have kids, got a positive preg test end of April. Found out a week ago at approx 9 weeks that I have a 7 week sac with nothing inside. Inevitable miscarriage which is still keeping me waiting. I'm sad... Kinda coping... But sad.... I should be a couple weeks away from being able to tell people... Yet here I am waiting for the end to occur.

My doc doesn't seem concerned, tells me I'm young and have plenty of time and not to worry... But bring it's the first positive I had ever had and there was nothing there has me a tiny bit worried...... I'm going to try and lose another 10 kgs at least and hope that helps... I'm just not sure when to give up and seek help.... Admittedly over the three years we have been through months away from each other and a number of months when timing was off (knowing from my charting )... I'm just so worried this could happen again.

Anyway just big hugs to all

Hi lily, welcome and biggest hugs xx

Have you sought any kind of fertility testing over the past 3 years?

No I haven't. Only doc bloods to check immunities and what not.

In my charting and especially over the last couple of years, my hubby has worked away a lot... So I put it down to bad timing (like literally around o time too tired etc lol) As hubby and I both worked hard to lost weight this year we thought we would give it a real crack of Dtd every second day and if we didn't get preg by the end of year would look at testing.

I'm not sure I'm satisfied yet we've given it a good enough try

Fair enough. I knew something was wrong after 7 months ttc and decided to get checked out. It's completely up to you if/when you want to get checked. Giving it a good shot is a great idea I hope you get lucky soon!

Welcome Lilyloubelle, I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. Getting some tests done could be a really good thing - if everything comes back fine then just keep trying as you're planning to, but at least if it turns out there's something small and easily fixable at least you can do something about it and maximise your chances.

I think I will keep going as planned and if not successful by end of year will get testing... At least I will have lost more weight by then and given it a better shot.

Its obs or fertility specialusts who do testing anyway right? What do they test for... or is it something gp can do?
