I am new to this forum and hoping I have posted in the right place!
I have just completed my first cycle of ivf and to say I am gutted would be an understatement.
A bit of background I am 40 yrs old ttc through ivf/icsi as dh has had a vasectomy. My AMH was 23 during stimming (600 gonal & cetritide) I developed 10 follies. Absolutely heartbroken when only 1 egg was retrieved at pickup and it failed to fertilise. Has anyone else has this happen and gone on to produce more eggs next cycle? I have so many questions - did I do something wrong? Have I left it too late and my egg quality is compromised?
I would love to hear positive stories from others who have had a similar experience.

My issues are different than yours but just wanted to say each cycle you can have a very different response.
Cycle 1. 3 eggs collected, all mature, 1 fertilised and transferred - BFN
cycle 2. Cancelled due to cyst
Cycle 3. 15 eggs collected, 12 mature, 8 fertilised, 2 transferred and 5 in the freezer. Got the BFP on Monday. Now just have to wait and see if there is one or two bubs.
From what I have read and seen here a lot of doctors are unsure how you will respond so they start on a lower dose.

- treat IVF as a journey with lots of trial and error to get the recipe right. Any failure is one step closer to a success
-your response to each cycle even on the same protocol can be quite different.
- how is your DH's sperm? Can he take menevit etc to maximise sperm health?
- if your AMH is correct at over 20 there is unlikely to be an egg quantity issue. AMH does not suggest too much about egg quality. You may want to talk to you FS and perhaps try DHEA etc if FS thinks there may be an issue
- did you cut out caffeine, alcohol etc in the months leading up to EPU, perhaps this may have an effect
- next cycle there are many ways they can tweak your protocol which can lead to better results- don't give up !
- did you do a long down cycle with the pill first or an antagonist?
- take care this week xxx

I think DHEA could help too. I haven't used it myself but I've heard excellent things.
You need to ask your FS what they think went wrong. It could be worth changing clinics. Go to the best of the best, the ladies on here can tell you some recommendations if you give them you're city.
