    Some grumpy oldies don't like being around a bunch of toddlers.... I kinda get that.
    I'd try to arrange a separate family party that they can be involved in.
    Ftr my mum and inlaws always come to party's and even bring food, but i have said to mine and DH's family I don't mind if they skip the crazy kids part and come a bit later for a civilised catch up, it works quite well.
