Default Robert Hughes is now a convicted paedophile

My childhood memories of watching Hey, Dad! will never be the same.

Can't believe how long this went for. What is wrong with these people. How can they look at young children in that way..disgusted. Hope the other prisoners make him feel the same way these kids felt.

I've caught the last half. Excellent that he's been held accountable for the horrible crimes he's committed.

No I didn't see that interview on A Current Affair. But after reading your post about it I went looking for it on the Internet. I found it here.

Ben Oxenbould was fantastic with what he said. Unfortunately he was aggressively discouraged by producers from speaking out and subsequently lost work for his support of Sarah Monohan. Crazy. Who the hell defends a man who preys on children, a peadophile?? Why/how is it undesirable to hire an actor who doesn't condone children being sexually abused? I don't understand. It makes me wonder if the people at the top aren't pedos themselves. Ben in my eyes should be commended and in fact be given more work as a result. What a good man.

I feel quite sickened that this predator has fiercely denied everything. Yelling out in court "I'm innocent". He's basically calling every person that testified against him a liar. How insulting to his victims.

I'm glad he has finally been held accountable for his crimes.

The producers of Hey Dad should be completely and utterly disgusted at the way they enabled Robert Hughes to continue with his predatory behaviour on young girls. Television ratings were more important than protecting vulnerable victims. Shame on them.

I was watching the interview on ACA Last night, and was looking up the show trivia on IMDB at the same time. Seems like even when the show was airing he was immensely unpopular amongst the cast -

"Robert Hughes was an unpopular person amongst his colleagues. He was also the only cast member to have his own dressing room, which the other actors occasionally used. As a child, Sarah Monahan proudly told her close castmates of how she had urinated in Robert's shampoo bottle while he was out of the room, "so he could wash with it"."

"When Brisbane radio station B105 organised a "Hey Dad..!" reunion in September 2009, nearly all cast members refused to take part, once they found out Robert Hughes was to be involved. To ensure the reunion proceeded with the majority of the cast, Robert was dropped from the reunion, and the part of Martin in the scripted scenes was played by radio host Stav Davidson."

I wonder if there will be any official inquiries into who knew what and when, the way BBC held an inquiry when the crimes of Sir Jimmy Savile were exposed.
