If you could build/design your own home - what would your essentials be? E.g - big kitchen, loads of storage, etc.
I feel like I'm forgetting things or there is things that I haven't thought of that would be beneficial.

Double socket on the kitchen island.
Walk in pantry.
Cupboards in the garage! Ours are like wardrobes...
Recesses in the shower/bath wall for soap, shampoo/conditioner bottles.
Built in drawers in wardrobes, or shelves down one side
Never say no to ceiling fans and security screens (a friend of mine did this and regrets it)
Erm not sure what else, we've just completed our build contract and these are things we asked for!

Lots of accessible power points! We have bought an older house and didn't realise the lack of power points until we moved in.

Butlers pantry, huge laundry with lots of storage, power points, fans, recesses in shower and next to bath, massive kitchen with lots of bench space, French doors, good cupboard space in bedrooms, lots of windows.

Outdoor shower coming off the kitchen. Haha.
Only tonight we decided this would be genius for a baby going through BLW. She makes an epic mess and we have taken her in the high chair straight to the bathroom for a hose down a few times now.

All the above plus:
Outdoor kitchen/ BBQ / pizza oven and huge covered entertaining deck and a double airbath spa in the main ensuite,

Storage and power points are big ones.
A butlers pantry is my dream!
Plenty of storage in the bathrooms is a must.
Getting the kitchen configuration right so it flows well when cooking and is easy to use (e.g. Having the oven at a comfortable height).
I'd love to build a house from scratch!

Thanks everyone for your responses so far. I hadn't thought of extra power points.
The house plan we were looking at has a butlers pantry, but I'm not sure whether I would use the additional sink, does anyone else have one with a sink and actually use it?
My main thing I'm concerned about is storage. I really wanted to extend the garage and have the whole back wall of the garage just floor to ceiling cupboards, plus additional cupboards throughout the house.
Ceiling fans are an absolute must and air conditioning in living areas. We plan to have an open plan living area with bifold doors that open out onto an undercover decked area. We would love an outdoor kitchen, but it will depend if we can fit it in our budget.
