Bedlover - I lodged proof of birth at Medicare yesterday. I had done online also and was told would be processed between 21 - 28 days, but may take longer as they r behind.

Thanks JJ Tiger, I'm trying to not use a dummy. Bub sucks finger too for comfort, but once he nods off I can remove it. I'm sure I read somewhere that dummy not recommended when bf. but really I think whatever works for u. I have some formula on hand too, just in case we need it. Great to see others are having the same challenges, makes me feel normal. X

Hi JJ. Our babies are a similar age and we have used a dummy at the nurses suggestion. Ellie doesn't have issues attaching and it hasn't caused confusion. She doesn't need it all the time - usually once every two days. We use it to settle once she has had a good feed and still wants to suck. I was trying to wait the suggested 4 weeks at first but it has helped with her sleep and isn't affecting bf so happy to use it occasionally. The nurse says some babies are just really 'sucky' and just warned us not to use it to mask hunger signals (which of course we wouldn't).

    Beautiful pics Lotsa.

    Catlover looking close!

I have tried 4 different types if dummy and Remy won't take any of them - but she loves to suck my thumb. I would love her to take a dummy as it makes settling so much easier!
She ended up in my bed last night as she had pains in her tummy and sucking helped her pass them, but I got jack of leaning over the cot so she could suck my thumb. I had all 4 dummies in the bed too and she just wouldn't take them. Some made her gag, others she just kept spitting out. But she sucked my thumb for about 20 mins. So frustrating! Any tips?
