Nystatin drops OTC but the pharmacist needs to label it. I found daktarin oral gel worked best for my bub , but they don't like to sell it to little ones cause it's a thick liquid they can choke . I still got it and said it would be fine .

My suggestion . Try nilstat until you get to your gp , if no improvement ask about fluconazole caps, then get them on script and claim them through phi . Good luck !

I second the Daktarin gel. DD couldn't keep the nilstat down. Pharmacist suggested the Daktarin but a much smaller amount than on the box and said the same as above post.

VP the oral fluconazole is the same as the Diflucan over the counter that you can get for vaginal thrush. Just as a PP noted the tabs are expensive, I think perhaps $14 per tab (request the generic brand). The nystatin is prescription and was cheap cos of my health care card. Because I was going to the GP anyway I just got a script for both though technically didn't need it for the Fluconazole.

I had a prescription for the fluconazole and the cheapest generic I could get was $19.99 per tablet. That was 1.5 years ago though - surely the price would have gone down a little. glad you have phi VicPark and can claim it via them if you need.

I'm way late but recommend daktarin gel also. My dd didn't get it, luckily, but I was in such pain I was crying with every feed. It only took a few applications and I started feeling better.

Look what I ended up getting ladies...
The pharmacist advised against the oral tablets for the time being, unless I had vaginal thrush too (I don't think I do). I will see how things go (better bloody improve, I'm over the burning pain!) then check in with my doc on Friday.

    Thanks everyone for your help..

On a side note, is it just me or does the daktarin oral gel smell delicious, like lemon meringue?
