Fiona... Dr M uses 500ml Intrallipids - cost is $650 (no Medicare rebate), plus cost of private hospital - free if you have PHI.

Hope it's ok to add our quick cost.
Wow $650! For intralipid? It's cost me $150
For this in Melbourne plus hospital fee a few years ago. Private health insurance use
to cover it but not anymore. Only $300 in Qld plus $70 for the actual 500ml milk.
Its such a simple procedure that shouldn't cost that much. Like we have so much to pay!

@Fiona2 it's $650 paid to dr m, and whatever your phi excess is. If you don't have phi I believe it's $600 for the hospital stay. I also use it as a 'free' consult with dr m, ask him all my questions,, get scripts and pathology forms etc. He is always happy to answer any questions I have

@Pihu wow! We can keep each other posted. I am paranoid I am going to ovulate early this cycle. Keeping an eye on it (charts and cm) because if I O early I ay miss out. Will know by the end of the week.
@Bella978 Thanks for sharing yes I have PHI. How much time do you actually see Dr M that day? At least 10-15mins? I have a few Qs up my sleeve already

Fiona... yes Dr M comes and sees you twice during the hospital stay. He does what he needs to do and leaves, usually a matter of minutes, but you can easily ask him questions and doesn't seem worried. Last time the lady next to me asked heaps of questions and had him write out scripts and things, so ask away.

In NSW the only place I know that does Intrallipids is Dr Benny at Next Gen - cheaper I hear (about $300) but that's for less, not the 500ml that Dr M does. I would love to not have to pay $650 each time - any Sydney women do it at prices the Vic + Qld women are quoting?
