    Default Answering to name

Hello, I was just wondering what age your child started consistently answering to their name? My 9 month old would answer to his name about 80% of the time but sometimes it's like a zones out and wont listen first time I call his name. If I say his name a few more times he'll respond. Is this normal?

I'd say 80% is normal for any age, and also pretty good. A teacher will tell you how many times the average child responds to their name being called out first time. Depends what they're doing at the time and also depends if they want to 'hear' you or not.

My 5 year olds have always been like that. It just depends on their mood and if they are willing to listen to me or not.

Thank you to everyone for your reply. Very much appreciated. Not sure what's going on with me but I just can't stop obsessing about everything DS does. I really just need to relax and enjoy this time while he's so little. But easier to write than to action unfortunately.
