Welcome to the "Spring Clean Your Home - Clean and De Clutter Challenge"
This months challenge is to clear, de-clutter and spring clean your home. We will set out a daily challenge … to spend 20-30 minutes a day on a task to end up with a beautiful clean and de-cluttered home.
So … we are going to start with Kitchen Week !!!!
1St June – A great way to start ... a small de-clutter.
Walk around the house and find 20 things that you don’t need, use or want to freecycle.
2nd June – Pantry
Go through your pantry/food cupboard. Clear out, throw out expired stuff, wipe down shelves and re-organise.
3rd June – Fridge
Clear out anything that needs to be ditched. Wipe down shelves, give the crispers a good clean. .
4th June – Freezer
Yep, its time to throw out anything that is old and freezer burnt. Defrost, refresh your ice trays, clear out those peas that everyone has in the back corner .. and stack it all neatly.
5th June – Microwave
Take the tray out of the microwave and give the whole thing a great clean.
6th June – Clean Oven
A horrible task, but its so much nicer when your oven is all sparkly.
7th June – Plastics Cupboard
Time to have a clean out of all the stuff with no lids, re-organise so that you can actually find things, and so that it doesn’t all fall out when you open the cupboard.
8th June – Rest Day
After cleaning all week … today is a rest day.

I need this. Part of our clutter is admin tasks that have been put aside - receipts to file, cheques to bank, superannuation to be rolled over. I also need to resort all my baby's clothes and store the things that are too small.
As for names -- austerity April?

I try and do an organising task daily - wether it be 5 minutes or an hour or spread out over a few days.
So I have lots of ideas
One kitchen cub at a time
Under kitchen sink
30 min rubbish pick up - grab a rubbish bag and walk from one end of the house picking up anything that can get chucked out.
30 min donate pick up - same thing as above but for anything that can get donated
I found the best thing for me was not just de cluttering but figuring out a system so that it stays decluttered and you don't have to repeat in 6 months.
For eg I was forever tidying the boys wardrobes so I cleaned it all out and figured our what I wanted to keep in there. All their clothes have a place, I grabbed a canvas box for bags and put on the shelf, I grabbed a plastic tub for hand me downs. So when I get hand me downs for ds1 but don't fit they go in the tub or when something doesn't fit ds1 and is still big for ds2 it goes in a tub and all ds2 baby stuff goes into the plastic tub in the new baby's room ready for when it comes.

I was so sick and tired of never finding anything in the bathroom cubs or forever cleaning the shelves because bottles had leaked so I did this. It's been kept tidy for 9months!
