I would love to get my hands on one of those machines so I could hear it whenever I like, I'm going to be 18 weeks before I hear it! Stupid to complain I know but still...
Its so great to see some great test results with you all and I think I need to start looking at prams. I haven't bought a thing yet
We had an appointment Monday and the Dr let us hear it. She did warn us that it may be too early but it was there 150bpm. Maybe its because I'm high risk due to hypothyroid and family history of prems and seeing a Dr not the midwives. No idea really, but it was awesome I know you can buy Doppler's on eBay for around $50-$100 and they resell pretty well too.
We are also got low risk results from the nt scan

O wow so she wasn't delusional? Lol I guess if there's a chance you won't hear it then I can understand why they don't want to do it of a least warn you first, you would panic badly if they couldn't find it wouldn't you? So happy you heard it, its amazing isnt it? Thanks for telling me about the Doppler, I'm going to look at them tomorrow! So being high risk will you have more regular appointments? Congrats on being low risk such a relief!

That is so bizzare ! I saw bubs heart beat at 6 weeks then i got to hear it at 9 it must be where you get the ultrasound done at and what type of machines they use maybe ask your gp/midwife about that one and see what they say

If using an ultrasound it picks up the heartbeat much easier.
The midwives here in Qld Health (might b different in other states) recommend not to try with a Doppler until around 16weeks because it can be difficult to pick up before then and if you try and can't find it then they have to send you for a scan (when the baby is completely fine it is just the Doppler not picking up heartbeat) & it can be quite stressful. So they try not to listen til 16 weeks when they know they should pick it up easily to prevent all that unnecessary stress.
Although sometimes depending on the placental placement & position of baby it is still sometimes tricky to hear.

I ordered a Doppler off ebay, HiBebe brand, most girls I know who use them pick them up around 10-11 weeks, I heard bubs HB at 8 week scan 171bpm.
I still waiting for someone to give me bad news, I think its natural after MC's but I wish I could enjoy it, fatigue is killer lately, no MS for 5 days but I am avoiding lamb like the plague! over did it yesterday and got a little crampy, anyone else still cramping in there 10th week?

Thanks for all your replys, that's why I was so confused Amandale I knew some of you had already heard it. That makes sense though mrshopeful it would be so stressful if they couldn't find it. I guess I need to be patient (not very good at that when it comes to this pregnancy) I'm going to look that up stillfuntrying thank you!

    Hi ladies,

    Happy easter!!

About hearing the heartbeat, i've heard mine as early as 5w6d with DD. Basically what my ob told me is that as soon as you can see it on the ultrasound, if they have a machine that has the capabilities to hear the heartbeat, you can hear it Thats why i heard mine so early, his ultrasound had the capabilities.
