    Default Sterilizing for breastfed baby

    Just a quick question

For newborn babies, do you have to sterilize dummies etc? I know for breastfed babies you don't need to sterilize bottles and teats but what about dummies?

I do, I pop them in a container of freshly boiled water or in the microwave steriliser when I sterilise my breast pump. I will admit I don't do it as often as I did when she was just born because there seems to be dummies hiding everywhere around here!

Yep, never have sterilised anything for my babies- as soon as you take them out of the steriliser, they're not sterile any more

Usually use the microwave sterilizer for bottles but will wash thoroughly with warm soapy water and rinse with boiling water if I'm desperate.

I wash dummies with detergent and rinse then rinse again with boiling water.

I wouldn't rely just on soapy water for a newborn, though by about 4 mths I get slacker.

I've never sterilised anything for DS including bottles and pump. Hospy said it wasn't necessary.

I put them in boiling water or put in the microwave sterilizer with my pump.
