Default Valco trimode ex - handle grip replacement

I've just purchased a second hand valco tri mode ex but I need to replace the foam handle (the original isn't there). I emailed valco and they told me I can get a replacement for $30+ (I'm not keen on doing this as that's half as much as the pram cost me) how easy is it to replace the handle? I'm not going to bother if I've got to unscrew things? Also I read that you can just get neoprene tubing from Clark's rubber that does the job. Any advice anyone?

Must be a Valco thing.....i have a second hand runabout trimode with missing rubber. I was told to go and price it up at Clark rubber, but i haven't gotten around to it. Now i kind of like having a cool metal handle, lol.

Another option (if it is done well) is to use tennis grip/bike handle grip and wind it on...but as I said it needs to be done with patience.
