I know it looks a bit weird for a guy to post in this thread, but I have in fact done some research into UTI incidence. For women (who because they have shorter uretha are more prone than men) there is a dramatic increase in incidence when sexual activity commences. This is not a surprise, given that during intercourse the man's pubic hair is often mashing into the urethral opening.

So peeing after sex (mentioned above) is a really good idea. Also, getting your man to wash his bush properly and regularly (esp. before sex) wouldn't hurt! Finally, given that E. coli is often implicated, wearing looser rather than tighter undergarments are probably a good idea.

Just reading all your remedies as I am suffering from a UTI atm but trying to avoid the antibiotics as I have been on them way too much. Great ideas and JohnC I had never thought about that, now hubby will have to shower before hand.

My best advice to get rid of it is:
Take urals & cranberry tablets, or drink cranberry juice.
Drink lots of water, I mean down 4 cups of water in say half an hour. Repeat.
Don't have caffiene, don't have alcohol, softdrink of spicy foods.
If you are in pain, put a warm wheat pack or hot water bottle down there, it soothes the pain a lot.
