    Default Compounded losec

Those of you who have babies on losec, do you find it becomes less effective after about 2 weeks??

Yes I did when using it. In fact I don't think it did anything. We had much more success with zantac

I didn't but dd was only on a small amount and grew out of it quickly. I have heard it can diminish quickly. Mine were made in a batch that lasted about 1 month.

I have heard this is common. We used it it tablet form, I freaked at first about giving it but it turned out to be really easy. Grab a Nurofen syringe, pull out the plunger, break the tablet in half then drop it in and replace plunger. Draw up 3 ml of gripe water to dissolve the tablet (takes 5-10 mins) then slowly syringe into bubs mouth. Losec was very effective for my DD, we have just weaned off it at 8mo. My cousins bub who had severe reflux and CMPI had good success with Zoton as well.

Is very common. Even the hospitals don't use the suspension. They use granules and dose immediately as it is proven that it loses its effectiveness.

My paed also said not to use the compound - much more expensive and has a shelf life of only 7 days. We use the tablets.
