we just had our 12 week scan.. All was great.. As we already have a dd my dh is hoping for a boy so he cheekily asked if it had a penis, the lady advised that she couldn't see anything between the legs...
My question is, is it early to tell or is it a girl? My dh only asked as he thought it was too early to tell.. What are your thoughts?

12 week scan, is it to early to tell sex

Definitely too early to tell! However there is something called the nub theory, which says that the angle of the nub (which all babies have at 12 weeks) can tell you the sex.

When I had my 12 week scan I asked when I could find out, the Dr gave me an "educated guess" but explained not to tell anyone yet as they can be wrong that early - I think most won't even give you a guess.
Ours was confirmed at a 16 week scan and again at our 20 week scan- we were pretty lucky though

Do you have a picture you can post? I'm pretty good at guessing

I got told at my 12 week scan that he was 90% sure we were having a girl (he has a good success rate of early gender detection going by nub) I then had a scan a few days later due to a bleed all was well and he told me he was 99% sure that it was a girl. At my 20 week scan I asked him to confirm it as I was a bit scared of thinking it was a girl if it wasn't and getting my hopes up and he said "that I had no faith in his skill and it was 100% a girl" sure enough my princess was born 18 weeks later! Was lovely after 2 boys
If you have a good side pic a lot of people are good at nub guesses

At my 12 week scan the ultrasound technician felt 90% sure we were having a girl. .. this was confirmed at our 20 scan. .. and all scans I had after that too. We had a girl.

At my 12 week scan I was told 'reasonably certain' it's a girl... Turned out it was =)

We were told at 12 weeks that we were having a girl (with the nub technique), but we were also told it was no more accurate than flipping a coin and not to go and buy anything. Sure enough at 20 weeks it was confirmed.
