We have been given a single bed for dd as need to transfer her to one before dd2 arrives in May.
I'm not sure how much to spend on a mattress for her. Some people say don't buy a good one right now cos it will get wet on and stuff through toilet training, and others recommend a good expensive one.
So.. What did you do and how much did you spend?

We bought a good quality pillowtop mattress as dd1 spends 12ish hours sleeping and growing on it. We ended up getting a good deal and got it for $250. I keep a mattress protector on it.

A good quality mattress is essential in my opinion. I have two waterproof mattress protectors on our kids beds and then used dry night sleep sheets under top sheet when toilet training - but DD never had an accident.
