    Default AZFC Microdeletion

    Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with AZFC Microdeletion resulting in Azoospermia. DH was recently diagnosed and it seems impossible to get information on it (which is very isolating).

    Does anyone know:
Is it only genetic or are there any other causes (environment etc. as he worked in a chemical company and he seems to be the only male relative with this)?
Has anyone gone through the sperm extraction where they open the testie up? If so how bad is the recovery time?
Any idea on cost, with IVF, ICIS and the operation to extract the sperm?

Sooo many questions but I guess these are the most pressing.

Any help and I would be forever grateful.

    Hi shelson,

I had replied some of related questions on the thread that you created a month ago. You are welcome to join the azoospermia thread as they are many knowledgable ladies there who might be answer your questions.

Microdeletion is genetic cause not environmental. The recovery time of mTESE procedure depends on individual. My hubby seems to recover faster than most ladies DH on the azoo thread. He is tough. No pain killer and even no ice pack. The surgery was performed on fri. He was off work the following week -- laid on the sofa whole day long. We flew back a week later. He could walk but slowly. Sitting was not easy for him but manageable. I would say a good 2 weeks in the end.

Do u have medicare? If so, the price guide is generally on the clinic website. It is extremely expensive for us as we dont have medicare and pay everything out of pocket. It depends who operate the mTESE. If i follow your post right, r u planning to go with ivfa? The price depends on the surgeon. If u want, pm me. More than happy to share the mtese related cost.

I found this website very good in explaining the cause of azoospermia.

    Default Microdeletion

    Hello
I realise this thread is old but wonder if anyone had success with AZFc microdeletion and ICSI. After months of thinking we won't have children as DH is not up for DS we find today that his last sample he had 52 live sperm and AZFc microdeletion! FS wants to try a cycle using fresh sperm after we have been to see a genetic counsellor. Also if there is no fresh sperm he wants to do a TESA, thoughts? Any experiences?
    Cheers, need of hope
