Both my daughters are baptised with 2 godfathers and 1 godmother (dh and my siblings) thinking they would always love and be in their lives. Meanwhile my "brother" is an alcoholic, recently he was in a alcohol fuelled rage and attached my mother, myself and pregnant fiancé in front of my children and 2 of his. (It was brutal and police were involved)
he didn't care that my youngest was traumatised and suffered nightmares following the incident. Today christmas he didn't even text them or anything. I did text him as his youngest daughter is my goddaughter and nothing no response. His fiancé has since sided with him even though he assaulted her also.
I do not want ANY connection with him anymore. My daughters were baptised in August, and thought considering they have 2 godfathers if it was possible to remove him.
Please this is hard so do not judge.

It may depend on which church they were baptised in? I'm not sure if you can add/remove godparents in the Catholic Church, you might need to contact the bishop of the diocese to do so. You could always just stop referring to him as godfather, especially seeing as the kids have two others anyway.
Good luck OP x.
ETA: just went and did some reading, you can't 'de-godparent' someone in the Catholic Church as the records stand to capture that point in time. You could always encourage the kids to choose someone more appropriate down the track as their confirmation sponsor.
