    Default Brown discharge 1st trimester

Hi, I'm 6 weeks today (first pregnancy) and this evening I noticed brown mucus when I wiped. No cramping. Can anyone tell me is this normal or a sign of something else? I'm so worried. Thanks

Hi, same thing happened to me around the 6 week mark. I freaked out a little and it was there a few times when I wiped but I told myself unless it hot heavy, I started cramping or it turned red that I should try to stay calm. Easier said than done I know! If went away after about 2 days and 5 days later when we had our first scan, everything was perfect.
Hope it's nothing for you also.

Yep I had this with my first pregnancy. Can be very common as the pregnancy dislodges old blood as it beds in. With my second pregnancy I had bright red blood and I am feeding that baby as we speak! Don't worry

Thank you girls. I'm not seeing any more today so hopefully it's nothing to worry about. I'm having a scan in two weeks so I should relax a bit more when I see heartbeat.

I'm 7w4d and have had light brown/yellow/mucusy spotting since last Wednesday, had a scan last Thursday and showed everything is A-OK.

It can be quite common in early pregnancy, especially since everything is so sensitive down there, my advise would be to rest as much as you can, no sex or exercise as it can irritate your cervix or whatever may be causing the spotting.

It's so hard not to stress over every little thing, I know, but if you feel it gets worse or you need reassurance please see your GP or OB and they can give you a transvaginal U/S and check for any abnormalities/the source of spotting.

I'm still getting it at 18 weeks with no apparent cause - sex etc makes it worse but there's nothing they can see in the scans etc.

My mw has said the same - unless its red, painful or crampy not to worry. If its any of those, to go to emergency. At 7 weeks their concern is ectopic. At my 18 weeks their concern is early labour.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Fact is, it could be fine or it could not. No one can tell. I had the same symptoms as you. Brown or dark red bleeding from week 5, hcg levels increasing but not enough. I heard a heartbeat at 6 weeks 2 days and 7 weeks 4 days. Baby died at 7 weeks 5 days and I found out at a scan at 8 weeks 3 days. However, I've heard of people with no sign of a heartbeat at 6 weeks, with voluminous bright red blood and cramping, go on to have healthy babies. Statistics say that 50% of first trimester bleeders will miscarry and 50% won't. I hope you are in the latter category. Take care xx
