    Kids go through stages of trying to push you. My dd was 10 when she needed a wake up call and my ds was 13.
    Yes, he needs a good kick up the bum (so to say)... "Hello, you are ten yrs old mr and you will respect your parents" .
    If he wants something, make him earn it with chores. Send him to his room for backchat and bad behavior, ban him from things...this is the age where he needs you to be stern, before he hits teenhood.
