This would be the perfect opportunity to teach him that when you're blessed to have more than what you need, you donate to less fortunate people.

I don't understand how you think Target should just hand over cash to you or swap it for something with no proof it was purchased there.
Donate them to someone more needy and with better things to worry about.

Can not believe people use kids birthday parties as an opportunity to make money.

Doesn't matter if you look like you would steal or not. They don't know how you acquired those items or if in fact they were bought at their store. I don't see an issue with their policy.

The idea of wrapping and putting them under a wishing tree is a great idea!

Seriously? Thats what you've taken from the OP's post? She has multiple of the same toy and wanted to get something different for her son, she is hardly looking to make some money!

I dont necessarily agree that target should offer store credit without a receipt but this is just going to extremes, there is no indication that the OP was looking to make money.

I don't understand why Target need to rectify your sons overflowing toy inventory. Of course Target deserves a receipt, imagine if they didn't! People would steal stuff all the time, then return it sans receipt and then the rest of the poor consumers will end up paying more to cover the ever increasing shrinkage.

He has three toys and only needs one, so you're left with two choices- sell it or gift on.
