DD got her report card today and I didn't get to talk to her teacher about it much as it was quite hectic and all she said was DD was doing her best but being the second semester the bar had been raised.
The grading system in order is...
On her semester one report she got:
History: not applicable
We were told at the semester one patent/teacher interview that the goal was for the them to be at 'working with' so DD was below average for all bit science.
This report card is...
English: making connections
Maths: making connections
History: making connections
Seeing as the teacher said 'the bar had been raised for semester two', does that mean the average level/expectation with the grading system has been raised as well? Does it mean DD is still falling below average?
There is no semester two interviews and tomorrow is the last day so I doubt I will get a chance to talk to the teacher.
Can anyone help interpret?

I'm not expert, but she has improved in all areas so I would be extremely proud of her for that.

Man that's some confusing jargon isn't it! It looks like she's made great improvements though, perhaps she meant your DD had raised the bar for herself. You can make an appt to see the teacher to discuss tomorrow, call the school and ask.

The grading system is just confusing.
She is the baby of the class and quite emotionally immature and reserved so I just want to know she is going ok!
Will see if I can nab her teacher tomorrow first thing and see if there is time for a chat at some stage...

I am a teacher, I think her teacher means that the work was perhaps harder??? She has definitely made great improvements and is performing at the expected standard or above.

Thanks. I'm feeling pretty content and proud now. I was hoping the grading average hadn't been moved or what not. I wish they would use a simple method or give a 'how to read this/these are averages' note with it, especially for parents who don't have experience with this!
