TYPE 1 DIABETES SYMPTOMS CAN INCLUDE:
sudden weight loss
It's not something that is usually checked for via a urine test. The only way is a blood test, usually just a finger prick.

They tried the finger but didnt work & he would let them do It again & he sick & stressed as it is so thought it would be easier to do a urine test

How old is he ? As far as I know you can check for glucose in the urine. Could they try emla patches to numb the area ?

My son has Type 1 diabetes. The GP tested his urine for glucose first up then it was confirmed with blood tests at the children's hospital. Excessive thirst and urination and increased appetite but loss of weight were his main symptoms. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure he'll need a blood test to confirm a diagnosis of diabetes. Did they try to test his bsl with a glucometer ? My df is a type 1 diabetic, although his was late onset.

I'm surprised the GP didn't do a urine test first. If it shows glucose in his urine then they could do the finger prick.
My daughter was diagnosed a 3. She started with being lethargic, losing a lot of weight even though she was constantly hungry, mood swings and then finally the constant weeing and drinking water started. GP did a urine test then a finger prick and we were sent off to the hospital for everything else.
