@PurpleLove - wow, that does seem pretty expensive but I'm no expert on the going rate I have to admit. I just rang the FS clinic I've been referred to this morning and managed to fluke a cancelled appointment for next Wed, can't believe it! Anyway, they've said it will be $200 for the initial consultation with around $70 odd back on Medicare.
Is there maybe a third option you could try? Maybe a happy medium somewhere between the two (in terms of waiting time and cost)????
@No3please - no harm in getting BTs if you're worried. Am sure everything is fine but it's good to have peace of mind

Yeh that's what I thought. I think that's just the consult. Pretty sure tests ate extra!! 😕

I think $200 is about the going rate for basic FS. Fingers crossed they can help you out!
I think we are just going to fork out the $$ so we can at least see someone before august! Sucks but if that's what it takes to get BFP we will do it!

Yeah $200 is about right. The testing may have been included, I paid $570 just for the HyCoSy - eek!

Shoequeen82 - Welcome & Hi I too have PCOS the irregular cycles were also want prompted me to see a FS. 2 years later on ive finally got my cycles to where they should be about to start on IVF so really praying that this will do the trick. Did 6 rounds of clomid and a few with nathuropath so onto IVF now. Good luck with your cycles. Yep those hot flushes are crazy LOL yep to sleeping in the nud.
Hopefullyanotherbaby - Welcome and Hi I too have PCOS and have done the clomid rounds and didn't work also a few rounds with nathuropath and about to move over to IVF. I'm not even sure what is involved in IVF so its all quiet scary. I just know a lot of injections etc..and I'm not a fan of needles so I figure will be nice and aweful along with the hormones all related to it. Good luck with your egg collection. Ive been trying for just over 2 years and im so tired and have had days I wanted to just forget it as it so stressful. Hang in there I know this is a hideous journey but the end result will be worth it.
PurpleLove - Welcome & Hi I too have PCOS and a whole lot was never really explained but your in the right place here these lovely ladies are a wealth of knowledge. I believe what beccaboobang said is also right opks only measure LH surge and not ovulation you need to have blood test to confirm ovulation so normally around day 21. I did 6 rounds of clomid and would have scan on day 10 and trigger shot on day 14 - 16 depending on what follicles looked like and day 21 a blood test to check for ovulation. Good luck with your cycles. Wow $700 seems a bit high I guess depends on what they are testing for I had a hycosy test done which was about $550 from memory so that maybe what is included in cost and normally a general consult with a scan on day 10 -12 is about $200.
SookySooky28 - Welcome & Hi and I hope your stay here is short whatever you decide to do. I too need to loose some weight I have done 6 months of clomid and one IUI and no luck have tried nauthropath for the last 5 months so now moving onto IVF I know I don't ovulate properly with out the help of the drugs you could give nathruopath a try before starting the drugs I know a few people that have had success with it. Good luck with whichever choice you decide on.
Tgv1988 - Welcome & Hi Tara I too got diagnosed with PCOS that was in 2012 have been trying to concieve for about 2 years now. Did 6 months of Clomid and one IUI with no sucess and a few months using a nathuropath about to move onto IVF and praying that will do the trick as well as trying to loose a bit more weight. Its so hard to watch people you love have it happen so easily my brother and sister in law were pregnant a year after they got married when they said they didnt want children soon they wanted to wait and then come to find out she supoosedly had PCOS too they feel by going to a nathuropath. I know it will eventually happen but im so tired after more than 2 years of this. I didn't use opk when taking clomid as can give false positive. I know for me to ovulate i needed to have a trigger shot have you talked with your fertility specialist about that? I didn't two rounds of clomid with trigger shot ovidrel. Good luck with your cycles.
Beccaboobang, Number3Please - How are you ladies travelling hope all is moving along nicely.
Miss_Petepie - How are you coming along?
Anyone else i missed sorry will try to keep updated on posts here.
AFM - Have FS to start IVF next Tuesday so feeling quiet nervous, excited, hesitant and a whole bundel of emotions right now. Scared too never really thought I would be going done the IVF path as im not a fan of needles either so this is going to be hard. Trying to keep my head in a positive space right now is my main goal. Anyone who has been through IVF any tips or things I should know about?

Thank you for your words of advice and encouragement.
What is this trigger shot you speak of?
At the moment I'm only seeing a obstetrician/gyneocologist in castle hill that my doctor referred me to I have been seeing her every 3 months for over 12 months and as I said all I've been doing is 4 rounds clomid with day 21 progesterone bloods. She has never mentioned any of these other options for me except what I've done and the next step ivf with her. My older sister says that there must be more that she can do before taking such drastic steps into ivf.
I know this is probably a stupid question but is my doctor what you would call an fs?? Or how do you go about finding one?
Sorry for the billion questions. Curious about a lot of things that's all.

Go see Dr Benny at Next Generation in Parramatta - he's superman!
Usually with Clomid you are closely monitored with bloods, then scanned for follicles once your estrogen is at a level of more than 300. When a follicle or follicles are present, you take a shot of Pregnyl to release the follicle, then you have Day 21 bloods to check your progesterone levels for ovulation. It doesn't seem that your FS is doing enough and just wants you on IVF for the $$$$$$
Both Clomid cycles, I fell pregnant!
