Default WAHM - business ideas craft

    Hello

Im not a mum yet (not even pregnant) but I would like to get some sort of business started before having a baby.

I dont have any particular hobbies that take my fancy, but fairly good with a sewing machine and papercrafts.

Considered making cute custom burping cloths or bibs etc or framed name plaques, but would rather do something people actually want to buy...so..... Im coming to those who either have a WAHM business or suggestions on items you would buy.

    Hey Wish

If you're a whiz on the sewing machine might I suggest quilted baby blankets? I looked online for weeks trying to find a unique, one of a kind, handmade blanket because I thought it would be great for baby to have and give to their kids etc. So that could be a good idea.

I also like the bibs that look like bandanas? I think they're adorable, lol.

I also think those shoes are perfect for a newborn. If you started making them I'd pretty much HAVE to put in an order!

The sewn diaper wallets are cute too.

I love things that have been sewn and are one of a kind and totally handmade just for baby. Good luck, hope I've given you a few ideas to think about.

    Hi Wishnhope,

Good luck. Some things I have been meaning to get around to sewing myself are:

    1) Quilted drawstring playmat- Its a circular quilt/padded mat with a drawstring pocket in the edging and wide tape used as the 'string'. When bub is finished playing, you toss the toys in the centre and pull the tape so it turns into a little bag.

    2) Home made baby carrier (hugabub style)- I've looked at online patterns and it only takes a 5m x 0.5m piece of jersey cotton.

The play mat sounds like a brilliant idea.

What about sensory play mats for bubs? Made with various materials that feel different and add some buttons zippers and toys etc? Can also make them versatile to be wall hangings for toddlers.

Have a look at your local community Facebook page or the Buy, Swap and Sell pages and see what sort of things for bubs are selling. I know those kids tee-pees are selling like hotcakes where I live!
