    I'm with the others who think you have no obligation to tell them anything, but I also understand that you want your work life to be pleasant, and it won't be if you're the "It's none of your business," new girl.

    I'd just use your kid as an excuse - you would feel horrible dragging your child out of bed at that hour of the morning to get your drunk backside home.

    Tell them the truth.

    If you really don't feel comfortable doing that, then tell them hubby works nights starting at 11pm and so you needed to be home on time.
