Default Paediatric dental surgery through public hospital?

Feel like I'm grasping at straws a bit here but we've just been quoted about $2800 for my 4 year old sons dental surgery which he urgently needs. The dental fees themselves are $1200 and some of this will be covered by our general dental insurance but the bulk of this is the private hospital fee, anaesthetist etc. The paed dentist we saw only operates through private hospital but has anyone heard of any (in WA) who operate through public hospitals, or have any advice on the matter?
    Feeling a bit desperate!!!

Can he refer you to the public dental clinic? Would he participate in gap cover scheme? Or do a payment plan to make it more manageable

I think Armadale hospital dental clinic might offer that service , try giving them a call or contact the perth dental clinic they should be able to tell you. My child went to south bank last yr for dental surgery and although it was very expensive there was no waiting list and the staff there were wonderful. They even have strawberry flavoured gas for the kids and my little one can't wait to go back to a dentist again as it was such a positive experience.
