    Hi ladies,

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for all the great positive stories that have popped up here in the last few days. It makes me so excited to read those and think that could be me. I showed them to DH and he was impressed. He seems to be really coming around to the idea of going to SA now.

He even raised the topic himself last night and asked if there was anything we could do about it before we see our FS, but sadly there really isn't. I did suggest we could think about what characteristics we would look for in a donor. Aside from that, I need to recover physically from my recent miscarriage and wait to see our FS. Not to mention doing a FET, and possibly one last stim before we start the SA donor route.

Lily72, I have high NK cells and I think it's well worth getting tested for that. I had an Endometrial Biopsy done at around Day 20 I think. Plus, a whole lot of blood tests for other things that all came back clear fortunately. It's a lot of money to go to SA so you want to make sure everything else is tip-top if you can! I'm in Melbourne and I see Nick Lolatgis, who does treat for immune issues. The High Natural Killer cell thread has lots of good information, as someone else said. Although I am pretty sure our issue is my old eggs, my DH also had a SCSA test to check his sperm for DNA Fragmentation...just to be doubly sure that the issue isn't his side. We're still waiting on the results for that. Fingers crossed that it's OK as I think I will fall apart if there's an issue his side too.

We've just got back from some time down the beach and so I've been reading along but not responding. New Years was so full of babies and it was the same down the beach. I just want one NOW! I should have learnt to be patient by now...but sadly not.

Thanks Erin. We are also getting DH's sperm tested for DNA fragmentation. I figure cover all bases.

Lily72 - Dr Nick Lolatgis is in Melbourne, he works similarly to Dr Matthias in Sydney with his NK Cell testing and treatment. He will work along side Dr Matthias too, as I took Dr M's treatment plan and my test results to him for a 2nd opinion, plus he does intralipids at a fraction of the cost ($150 opposed to $650 I believe).

    Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to thank you all again for sharing your stories. It has made the transition to DE so much easier.

I was all set to go in March of this year. But I got a nasty infection from my last EPU which required major surgery in Nov of last year. So with the complications of that, a surgical herina. I changed FS best thing I ever did now seeing Dr Nick L who has done lots of test my other FS did not bother to do. Turns out I have a plasma issue, also blood clotting disorder. Both which cause miscarriages, I'm also being tested for NK cells as well. Once all these issues are resolved I can get back on the band wagon.

So Ladies I fondly wish you well for your journeys. Ill be reading along and cheering you all on. Best wishes everyone xx

    Mrs ErinR

I am with Nick Lolatgis too and we travelled to SA in March 2013 for Ivf treatment. Our little bub was born mid December delivered by Nick in Melbourne. It was the best thing we did going to SA. best of luck. Happy to chat to you about it off line too if you ever want to.

Just a quick question ladies. Who are did you fly with? How many days prior to your first appointment did you arrive in CT and how many days after your transfer did you go home? Just curious. I can't book anything but want to be prepared.

We flew Qantas straight to J'berg (approx 12 hour flight other airlines take much longer as they go via Singapore or Dubai so I recommend Qantas). We went for a wedding so were away for a month. You need to get there a few days prior to transfer for your scans and to meet with Dr. I would stay 1-2 weeks as that allows for any unexpected things ie: donor needs extra stimulation etc. if you book the cheaper flights there's no flexibility so factor in a buffer so you aren't stressed about timing too much. Cape Town is a wonderful city so enjoy it whilst you are there. Best of luck!

I am flying Singapore Airlines and I am staying 8 whole days and leaving on the 9th day which they have said is fine. They have said I can have my lining scan on the day of my donors retrieval which is the day after I get there.

I don't want to be away too long from my daughter but we are using donor sperm as well so my husband doesn't need to be there.

Did anyone catch one of the airport shuttle services to get to your hotel or did you catch a taxi?

If shuttle which company did you go with and how was it or if you caught a taxi did you pre-book it or just take chance at the airport to get one?
