    Default Contraception options

Feel a bit daft posting this but aside from implanon about ten yrs ago I have never really used any contraception

So what are the options these days. And which ones are suitable for bf and which aren't.

Dh will be getting a vasectomy in maybe six mths so I will need something for 0-12mths until we sure he is firing blanks

Oh I should say we always used billings and never had an accident but really don't want to risk it these days

I'm bf and on the mini pill. Been on it over 10 months (baby is 11 months) and just got my period back last week. It's been very reliable.

We weren't actively trying but we weren't using billings and decided to leave it to fate. We were going to start FTC when ds1 was six mths so it was just a bit earlier

You have to take it at the same time every day. If it's more than 3 hours, you should abstain from sex. However, I have forgotten it quite a few times and been ok, but now that my periods are back and I can be more aware of my cycle, I won't take the risk. I did have to go and get emergency contraception once as I do not want more babies.

There was an awesome chart in the locker of my hospital bed when I was admitted the other week explaining all different contraception options, pros and cons, effectiveness etc etc. unless I go into labour soon I'm not planning to go back there anytime soon to look for you though!
