    Default Breath-Holding Spell

I am posting this for a friend.

Last night my friend got the shock of her life when her DS (14 Months) passed out after crying for his drink bottle which she was filling up. She came back to him in time to catch him before he hit the floor. It lasted several seconds. He went purple. When he came back to, he cried again.

This morning she took him to their GP and he was checked over. GP said it was a breath holding spell and gave them information on how to deal with them as it's happened once, it will more than likely happen again.

So we're wondering if anyone else's child has or had anything like this before?

GP says it can happen up until 8 years old. My friend is very upset about it and doesn't want to leave him with anyone or let him out of her sight.

    TIA

my DD used to do it from 12 months of age... first time she passed out i panicked and of course went hysterical.. took her to GP who said it was an attention seeking thing and to just ignore it.. you cant die from holding your breath as your brain kicks back in... so we just monitored her and when she did it we would ignore it... she was still doing it up until 18 months of age... but she soon learnt she wouldn't get her own way and we didn't give her attention.
