Default Boys playing with dolls.. Ok?

Me: "oh look there's a toy doll and stroller on special for $5 each in the Big W catalogue. That would be a great Christmas stocking stuffer"

Hubby: ... Confused look ..."for DS?"

Me: "yes he had fun playing with the stroller and dolly at Nana and Pa's. Dont you want him to have a stroller?"

    Hubby: "He's a boy.."

Me: "if you're really worried I can do some research and quote some studies that its not damaging, then we can chat some more."

Hubby: "and I will look for some studies of my own.." (You don't want to know the rest of what was said!).

Help me out ladies... Does your boy play with dolls/a stroller? Why or why not? Anyone know of any reputable studies on the issue?

Wow! I have this almost exact conversation with my dad and DH this week. I have read a great article I'll try to find and post.

ThEre was something on the Project last night about it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with boys playing with dolls. I'm getting one for my DS for Christmas. I don't have proof but Im pretty sure it's probably does more good than harm!!

I have decided to get DS a doll after watching him at daycare in the home corner getting a bottle and feeding the baby doll in the bassinet - too cute!

DS has a couple of dolls throughout childhood. DH tried to discourage it at first but he soon learnt that it was doing no harm what so ever.

My Ds was 2.5 yrs of age when I had DD and I bought him his own baby and pram and accessories and he happily played with his baby when I was busy with DD.. I remember him trying to breastfeed his baby copying me lol My then hubby was horrified... but it doesn't harm them..... it sure beats toy guns which I never allowed ...

I bought DS a stroller and doll last year - he never played with the doll but loves the stroller. He often takes Elmo to the park in it while I push DD in her pram.
