We named DD Reese because we loved it and thought it was a little different for a girl. We didn't come across another girl Reese until we moved to the small town we are now in where at her school there is about 6 other female Reese's

My DS1 has a common name but we are yet to have another one in his age group so it's not been an issue yet.

There are about a million Jayden, Brayden, Hayden, Aiden, and the likes at the school. They all seem to get referred to as their first and last names.

thanks everyone. I think I might just have to wait and see what evolves. Funny thing though, I was telling DH last night about how I would prefer DD to be known by her first and middle names and he told me I was being "precious" and "ridiculous" . And even funnier, DD2 (who is 3 y/o) said "I don't want to be Bella Kate. I want to be Bella K". I guess everyone is right, she will let people know what she wants to be called.

Moral of the story though......think carefully about the name you love love love. I still love DD2s name, I think its beautiful, which clearly it is because half our damn town bl00dy well has it!!!

My daughter has a long and not common name, Samantha-Josephine. But she often is simply called Sammy. Kinder was ver good about wanting to know what we wanted her to be called by and if that would change as she gets older.

DS has what I did not think was a common name but there are 3. Not sure what he gets called but I know when his name is written it is always Tyler W
