Picture this, snake escapes and lives in roof and potentially comes out when somebody else moves in and god forbid a baby in the house. No way in hell would I approve a snake.

Snakes can't just escape. They're generally kept in locked glass enclosures. Mine is and it's law that they're kept that way.

Theres more chance of a Wild snake doing what you've described than a pet one escaping and doing it.

You need approval for any pet, fish tanks can cause problems too.

i saw a story on TV about a couple that went away and their 60/90 litre tank (cant remember) sprung a leak, leaked through the floor (apartment) and destroyed the roof&carpet of the apartment under them.

It's an exception, but I read no pets as NO pets/animals are to be kept on the property.

When we moved in here our re said that fish and birds we didnt need to obtain permission for but if in the further we wanted cats or dogs or guinea pigs we needed to obtain permission first. Same goes for our other rentals fish we have never needed permission for.

We have a turtle in a big tank. Didn't ask or tell them. They know about it though and always interested to have a look at it lol. have said nothing negative about it in 5yrs. We let it out for a run around the house and outside in fenced area so he doesn't escape.

We have a huge 5ft marine fish tank. Never asked if we could have it. Both the real estate and owners have seen it and have said nothing. They love looking at it.

Only had to get permission for our dog as the previous tenant had about 3 dogs and they destroyed the backyard.

A wild snake could just get in the roof of a rental and eat a baby (or something) I'd think a reason like that is irrational fear based rather than property maintenance.

I'd still seek permission though, pets a pet.

    That's totally irrational.
