So my Telstra bill randomly has two $5 'third party purchases' for a weekly subscription to Appy Club. I 'live chat' to Telstra and they tell me that I would have received a premium SMS saying that Appy Club (allegedly in no way affiliated to Telstra) will charge me $5 a week and if I 'wish' I can utilize the premium service (weather updates, sports etc). Being a premium SMS - it isn't retained in your SMS history so I can't go back and find it. Don't have to agree to it - you just start getting charged. This is very dodgy. Telstra allegedly doesn't 'agree' to it but is happy to pass the bill on to their customers. I complain and it is immediately credited. Now to inform ACCC.
