What a coward! Happy to go after other people over asylum seeker deaths but now he's PM he runs from the questions?! Oh I forgot, we don't talk about this issue anymore, nothing for us to worry our pretty little heads about...

A couple of points.
1. 'He tells them to truck off'??? Did you just make this quote up? I watched/listened several times and did not hear anything except a squeaky car door with Abbott inside and his lips not moving.
2. I would much rather a PM that was more interested in doing things than just saying things. By the way, he has already turned two boats around. Apparently, according to Labor and refugee advocates, it was impossible. Guess not!
3. The boat was so close to Indonesia that it washed up on one of its beaches. What really do you expect Abbott to say to journalists? "Indonesia needs to pull its socks up"?
4. He said he will talk to the media when he has something to say. If the media wants answers as to the cause of these latest deaths, maybe they should be asking some questions in Indonesia, where the army allegedly drove the refugees to the boat.

For point 1, he says it in the car. Not sure why you couldn't hear it.

How hard would it have been for him to say...
"The latest deaths have been a tragedy and I'm extremely sorry to hear about the lives that have been lost. This however, only cements the Coalitions asylum seeker plan to deter smugglers from leaving shore in the first place. The Coalition is looking toward the future and welcoming asylum seekers currently waiting and processed in UNHR camps."
...apologetic, positive and it's basically political fluff to placate people so it at least feels like he is acknowledging the situation instead of cowardly running away.

Silly people. He hasn't got a speech prepared. Give the man some warning before you ask him unexpected questions!
